Remove the stress from your life
Over the past several weeks, I've come to discover the importance of living a stress free life. Stress not only brings you down, but brings those around you down as well. Stress is certainly contagious. When you're around someone who is stressed out, the stress and negativity omitted from their body begins to cling to you, causing you to become stressed out and negative. This stress can have consequences in multiple areas of your life if you don't figure out how to remove the stress.

Alyssa's Weekly Wrap Up

Phoenix school teaching mandatory English and Spanish
When you think of public schools in Arizona, you often assume English is the primary language students are taught, with foreign languages being optional. However, this isn't the case with Squaw Peak Elementary, where the students are taught both English and Spanish in an effort to prove the importance of bilingualism. Half of the school day’s curriculum is taught in English, while the remaining half is taught in Spanish. Although many parents support the bilingual curriculum, it doesn’t sit well with some parents who feel schools in America should be English only.

Police warn drivers to slow down near school zones
Most Arizona schools are now in session for the 2011-2012 school year. Along with the new school year, police are warning drivers to slow down near school zones as they have stepped up their enforcement in these areas. The increased enforcement is strictly to keep Arizona children safe, not to harass drivers as they go about their day.

Select Arizona schools offer 'Move On When Ready' approach
Last year, the state Legislature approved the "Move One When Ready" initiative to encourage students to graduate high school. Select Arizona schools have adopted this new diploma program, which allows students to graduate early as long as they meet the core requirements. 14 Arizona schools have implemented this program in hopes fewer students drop out with the motivation to graduate two years early.

Celebrating The Fundamentals of SEO for the Average Joe’s 1 year anniversary
Over this past year, I’ve learned so much as far as what it takes to self publish a book. I’ve watched my sales increase, then go almost obsolete, and then sky rocket beyond anything I ever expected being self published. I don’t think I fully understood what I was getting myself into when I decided to self publish, but it’s a choice I don’t regret.

Pay it Forward
I'm a firm believer in karma. I believe, what you do with your life is what you will get out of your life. Do good things and receive good things. Do bad things and receive bad things. Plain and simple. I believe, paying it forward is part of good karma. Doing things for people without expecting anything in return. Give back when you can just because you can, and because you never know when you will be that person in need.

Alyssa's Weekly Wrap Up

Taking My Writing in a Different Direction
After sitting back to reflect on how this past year has gone with my writing career, I've decided to take my writing in a different direction. Over the past several months I've been stuck in a rut. So I decided to reevaluate where my writing career is at and where it will be headed if I stay on this course. After careful planning, I've decided to go in a different direction. I feel as though I've wasted this year due to my own laziness, and it's time to get my butt in gear and make some changes if I want 2011 to become the year I dreamed of. At the start of the year, I said this is going to be MY year with big things in store, and so far it's not due to my own fault.

Falling into a Routine
You get to certain points in your life where you fall into a routine. At certain points you become comfortable and content with where your daily life is at. You flow with the steady rhythm of your life without a second thought as you live each day comfortably and happy. But eventually, you get to a point in life where your daily routine isn't what you expected or no longer satisfies your needs. You want more. You want bigger and better things. You want to accomplish more with your life, and where you're at currently with your daily routines no longer feels as great as it once had.

3 Signs of Bad SEO
It may not always be obvious that your site is poorly search engine optimized; however, you can spot certain red flags that alert you to bad SEO. If you spot signs of bad SEO on your site, you need to take action to correct the poorly optimized content if you hope to rank high on a search engine's results page.

LinkClimbing out of a writing rut
Over the past 2 years, my writing career progressed quite nicely. It was a steady flow of work that gradually increased, and each milestone I reached seemed to be better than the last. I was more than pleased with how well my career was moving along, but out of no where, WHOOSH, I fell into a rut and didn’t realize it for many months. Now that I’m aware of this rut I’ve fallen into, I’m trying to climb out without causing my writing career to move backwards to any permanent extent.

CDC announces Salmonella Poisoning linked to Ground Turkey
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports a dangerous strain of salmonella is responsible for 76 illnesses in 26 states, including Arizona, which has been found in ground turkey. Although there is 1 death linked to the salmonella poisoning, the government has yet to initiate a recall of the ground turkey and hasn't released the producer of the meat. This has many people worried because the strain of salmonella responsible for the death and illnesses is resistant to antibiotics that are commonly prescribed.

Arizona schools fail to reach academic standards once again
Arizona schools have once again failed to meet the academic bench mark for the 2010-11 school year. 42 percent of Arizona schools failed to progress academically, which is higher than the 29 percent of schools last year.
